A huge or poor personal hygiene, - The migration of bacteria from the anus to the vulva. - Sex, - Hormonal Changes, - Treatment with certain antibiotics, - the consumption of contraceptives.
The main symptoms of vaginitis are itching, burning during urination, redness and slight bleeding, thick foul-smelling discharge and vaginal pain, “especially during intercourse.”
Types of vaginitis
due to fungus
Cause.
Fungal infections produce a type of fungus called Candida. Usually it is found in small amounts in the vagina. However, when the balance of bacteria and fungi in the vagina is disrupted, the fungus can proliferate excessively and produce symptoms. This Type of vaginitis is the most common. Some types of antibiotics increase the risk of a fungal infection. The antibiotics kill the normal vaginal bacteria that keep the fungus under control. This is when the fungus can then proliferate excessively. Pregnancy may increase the risk of fungal infection due to changes in the levels of hormones in the body, also the incidence of fungal overgrowth in women with mellitus diabetes is greater.
Fungal overgrowth can occur if the body's immune system, which protects against disease, is not working properly. For example, in women infected with human immunodeficiency virus, fungal infections can be serious. Sometimes it is not possible to eliminate it, even with treatment and it can become recurrent. In many cases, the cause of a fungal infection is unknown.
Symptoms.
The most common symptoms of a yeast infection are itching and burning of the external area of the vagina, called vulva. The feeling of burning can worsen when urinating or having sex. The vulva may be red and swollen. Some women with yeast infections observed an increase or change in vaginal secretions. This secretion may be whitish, dense and do not produce odor, however there are cases in which no changes are observed in the secretions.
Treatment.
Fungal infections can be treated by placing a drug into the vagina or by a pill. Some women try over the counter drugs for yeast infections when they have symptoms of vaginitis. Although they are safe sometimes this is can be another problem. So it is recommended to go to the doctor and do not delay the right treatment. If you have used a drug without a prescription and symptoms continue, contact your health care soon.
